MADE TO...
Job 7:3
So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
YOU KNOW IN THE HOUR WE LIVE IN A LOT OF THINGS ARE RAPIDLY CHANGING... WHEN I WAS A BOY I'D HEAR MY DAD TELL STORIES ABOUT WHAT HE WAS "MADE" TO DO...... YOU DON'T HEAR A LOT OF THAT ANYMORE.....
AS A MATTER OF FACT IF THE TRUTH BE KNOWN.......... IT'S KINDA FUNNY, YOU COULD ALL PROBABLY GUESS THE AGE OF THE PERSON BY WHAT THEY WERE MADE TO DO AS A CHILD OR TEEN AGER..
RELATE STORIES OF FOLKS:
1. AS A BOY I WAS MADE TO CLEAN MY ROOM, I WAS MADE TO DO THE DISHES, I WAS MADE TO CUT THE GRASS, I WASN'T IN A FUNDAMENTAL BAPTIST HOME, BUT I WAS MADE NOT TO WATCH MTV....
2. I'VE HEARD OF ONE BOY WHO WANTED TO PLAY SPORTS BUT HE WAS MADE TO BAIL HAY
3. I'VE HEARD OF OTHERS WHO WERE MADE TO WAKE UP AT FOUR IN THE AM AND MILK THE COWS
4. I KNOW OF STILL OTHERS WHO WERE MADE TO JOIN THE MILITARY AND MADE TO GET A HAIR CUT, MADE TO GO TO BASIC TRAINING, MADE TO GO AND KILL THE ENEMIES OF OUT COUNTRY.
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND WHAT HE WAS MADE TO DO? IT IS AMAZING IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT....... BUT HE WAS MADE TO DO SOME THINGS.
I. AS TO HIS DESCENT
"HE WAS MADE OF A WOMAN"
GAL. 4:4-5 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
SOMEONE WILL SAY, "WELL I WAS MADE OF A WOMAN TOO...", YES BUT YOU'RE NOT GOD! CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING IN A WOMB FOR 9 MONTHS AND KNOWING IT… BEING AWARE OF ALL OF IT..
YOU WERE NOT TRANSPLANTED INTO A UNIVERSE AND A PLANET THAT YOU MADE....
AND THEN INSTEAD OF THE GRANDEST RECEPTION EVER.. YOU BECOME INCARNATE IN A SMELLY BARN.
II. AS TO HIS DERIVATION
"HE WAS MADE OF THE SEED OF DAVID"
ROM. 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE MIRACLE OF THE LORD'S BIRTH... HERE FOR ALMOST A THOUSAND YEARS THE BIBLE SCHOLARS OF HIS DAY HAVE KNOWN THAT WHEN THE MESSIAH COMES:
1. HE WILL BE BORN IN A CERTAIN CITY, "BETHLEHEM",
2. AT A CERTAIN TIME, "ACCORDING TO DANIEL'S WEEKS",
3. AND OF A CERTAIN FAMILY! "DAVID'S"
4. AND CERTAIN SIDE OF DAVID'S FAMILY EVEN.
YET FRIEND, OF ALL PEOPLE ON EARTH... NO PEOPLE ON EARTH COULD HAVE BEEN A MORE A HATED PEOPLE THAN THE PEOPLE HE WAS BORN TOO... NO PEOPLE ON EARTH COULD HAVE BEEN A MORE PERSECUTED PEOPLE. YET THIS IS THE PEOPLE HE IS MADE OF... THE JEWISH PEOPLE.. THE SEED OF DAVID.
III. AS TO HIS DEMEANOR
"HE WAS MADE LIKE UNTO HIS BRETHREN"
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren…….
TO SEE A PICTURE OF LORD PAINTED BY SOME MAN YOU WOULD SENSE THAT HE WAS DIFFERENT THAN THOSE AROUND HIM.. YET THE SCRIPTURE SAY....
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
IV. AS TO HIS DOCILITY (REPUTATION).....
"HE MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTION"
PHIL. 2:5-7
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
1. Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, ......
2. Rom 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
2 Cor 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
I WANT YOU TO KNOW WHEN HE COMES THE NEXT TIME ALL THE EARTH WILL KNOW IT.. HE'LL COME TO RULE WITH A ROD OF IRON. HE'LL NOT COME TO SERVE, BUT TO BE SERVED… BUT AS WE'VE SEEN THAT WASN'T HOW HE CAME THE FIRST TIME.. GOD HELP US TO LEARN FROM THIS..
HE WILLING CHOSE TO MAKE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION… HE WILLING CHOSE TO BE MADE A SERVANT..
V. AS TO HIS DISGRACE
"HE WAS MADE A CURSE FOR US"
GAL. 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
WHAT IS THE MOST SHAMEFULL MEMORY YOU HAVE... CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING NAILED NAKED TO A TREE? THAT IS THE DISGRACE THAT OUR LORD WAS MADE TO SUFFER..
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
DID HE WANT THIS? LOOK AT HIM PRAYING IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE AND YOU'LL SEE THAT HE PRAYED TO HIS FATHER NOT TO HAVE TO SUFFER THIS... YET HE DID AS HE WAS MADE.
VI. AS TO HIS DUTY
"HE WAS MADE UNDER THE LAW"
GAL. 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
EVERYTHING THAT A JEW HAD TO DO HE DID.. LOOK AT THE EARLY DAYS OF OUR LORD...
Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Luke 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
Luke 2:24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
Luke 2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
THANK GOD HE DID NOT REBEL... WE WOULD NOT HAVE A SAVIOUR TODAY!
Matt 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SATISFIED BY THE ONE WHO FULLFILLED ALL OF THE LAWS REQUIREMENTS...
VII. AS TO HIS DEVOTION
"HE WAS MADE SIN FOR US"
2 COR. 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1 PETER 3:18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:"
ROM 8:3 "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:"
THE NEXT TIME YOUR WHINNING ABOUT THE PRESSURE OF HAVING TO DO SOMETHING.. OR BEING MADE TO DO SOMETHING YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE... LET'S BE REMINDED THAT OUR SAVIOR WAS ALSO MADE TO SOME THINGS.. AND IF GOD ALMIGHTY IN THE FLESH CAN BE MADE TO DO SOME THINGS......... THAN WE HAD BETTER NOT THINK OUR SELVES TO HIGH AND MIGHTY TO JOIN AND DO SOME THINGS AS WELL.
