WITHOUT THE PRECIOUS BLOOD

HEB. 9:22

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

I PETER 1:18-19 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

ILLUSTRATION: REV. E. A. COIL, A MINISTER OF THE UNITARIAN CHURCH AND HEAD OF HIS LOCAL MASONIC LODGE, SAID IN 1915 IN A PUBLISHED SERMON THAT NO PRAYERS SHOULD BE OFFERED IN THE NAME OF JESUS. HE ADDED THAT HE THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE RICH REWARDS FOR BOTH JEWS AND CHRISTIANS AS WELL AS BUDDHISTS AND MOHAMMEDANS. HE STATED THAT SONGS LIKE "ROCK OF AGES" ARE OUT OF PLACE BECAUSE THEY IMPLY A RESTRICTED CONDITION OF SALVATION. IT WAS CONCLUDED BY THOSE WHO READ THIS SERMON IN 1915 THAT REV. MR. COIL WAS TEACHING A SALVATION THAT EXCLUDED THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD FOR THE REMISSION OF SIN.

THIS MORNING, IN A WORLD WHERE SO MUCH IS BEING LEFT OFF, I WANT TO CONSIDER WHAT WE EXCLUDE WHEN WE LEAVE OFF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

I. PEACE IS EXCLUDED

COL. 1:20
20* And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

FRIEND TODAY, MAN BECAUSE HE IS A SINNER, IS AT ENMITY WITH A HOLY GOD.

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

THE WORD ENMITY HERE MEANS WAR, OR HATRED. GOD LOOKS AT MAN'S SIN AND IT STRIKES WAR OR HATRED IN GOD'S MIND. SIN TO US IS LIKE A DIRTY SHIRT BUT TO GOD IT IS A CANCER SO REPUGNANT THAT HE CANNOT LOOK UPON IT. MANKIND WINKS AT SIN WHILE GOD LOOKS AT IT SO SERIOUSLY THAT HE FOUND IT NECESSARY TO ALLOW HIS OWN PRECIOUS SON TO DIE A CRUEL DEATH IN ORDER TO SOMEHOW SATISFY THE RIGHTEOUS HATRED OF GOD FOR SIN.

II. PROTECTION IS EXCLUDED

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

I'M NOT GOING THROUGH THE TRIBULATION BECAUSE JESUS' BLOOD SATISFIES THE WRATH OF GOD.

IF YOU CAN IMAGINE A MAN BEING WALKED DOWN DEATH ROW TO EXECUTION, THAT IS WHERE MAN FINDS HIMSELF THIS MORNING.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

AH... BUT THROUGH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST THE EXECUTION IS NOT JUST STAYED. WE ARE DECLARED INNOCENT.

Just as if I had never sinned!

III. PURIFICATION OF THE CONSCIENCE

Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Heb 10:2* For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

Heb 10:22* Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

DOES YOUR MIND TROUBLE YOU? ARE YOU BOTHERED BY THOUGHTS OF HEINOUS SIN THAT YOU'VE COMMITTED IN THE PAST? YOUR ONLY HOPE IS THE BLOOD OF CHRIST.

WHAT MADE A HARLOT, DIVORCED 5 TIMES, LIVING WITH A MAN.... ABLE TO GO DOWN TO THE TOWN WHERE HER REPUTATION WAS AS DIRTY AS THE WORST CESSPOOL YOU'VE EVER SEEN, AND INVITE ALL THE PEOPLE THERE TO COME AND HEAR THE LORD? HER CONSCIENCE WAS CLEANED!

IV. POSITION IS EXCLUDED

EPH. 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

LOOK WHERE WE ARE AT... ALL BECAUSE OF CHRIST! YOU MAY NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING BY THIS WORLDS STANDARD, BUT IN CHRIST, UNDER THE BLOOD, YOU ARE ROYALTY! YOU ARE NIGH!

V. PARTICIPATION IS EXCLUDED

Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

A DYING MAN ASKED FOR HIS PREACHER. HE TOLD HIS PREACHER, "PREACHER I'VE HAD THE MOST INCREDIBLE DREAM... I DREAMED A REMARKABLE DREAM LAST NIGHT. I DREAMED THAT I WAS ON MY WAY TO A CITY; AND I CAME TO A MOUNTAIN, THERE WAS NO WAY TO GET TO THAT CITY BUT BY THAT MOUNTAIN.... THE HARDER I TRIED TO CLIMB THAT MOUNTAIN THE MORE FUTILE MY ATTEMPTS BECAME... FINALLY I JUST GAVE UP... I LAY THERE WEEPING IN MY DREAM. I LOOKED UP TO THE HEAVENS AND I SAW A DROP OF BLOOD FALLING FROM THE SKY... IT SEEMED FOREVER FOR IT TO FALL THEN FINALLY IT LANDED ON THE PINNACLE OF THE MOUNTAIN.... AND LIKE A CUBE OF SUGAR THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH WARM WATER IT JUST BEGAN TO MELT AWAY.... AND IT MELTED AND MELTED UNTIL FINALLY IT WAS GONE." HE SAID, "ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT MOUNTAIN I SAW A BEAUTIFUL CITY. ... "

FRIEND DO YOU REALIZE THAT THROUGH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST YOU HAVE ENTRANCE INTO THE MOST HOLY PLACE...?

DO YOU REALIZE THAT THROUGH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST THAT YOU CAN COME BEFORE THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE AND PRESENT YOUR CARES, BURDENS, AND THOUGHTS TO GOD?

I CONCLUDE THIS MORNING WE CANNOT EXCLUDE THE BLOOD OF CHRIST AND WE CANNOT INCLUDE ANYONE AS BEING IN THE FAMILY OF GOD WHO BELIEVES THAT SIN CAN BE ATONED FOR OUTSIDE OF THE BLOOD!
